Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Roy Hunter IV was born in May 1969 in Tampa, Florida. He enlisted in the Florida Army National Guard in 1989 and was later commissioned through Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) in 1991 from the University of South Florida.

Until transferring to the US Army Retired Reserves in May 2019 after thirty years of service, Roy served in various assignments in the National Guard and Army Reserves, first as a Chemical Specialist and later upon commissioning as a Chemical Officer, Platoon Leader, and Company Executive Officer with the 53rd Infantry Brigade in Florida and then as a Battery Commander and various positions within the 197th Field Artillery Brigade operation’s section and the State Headquarters. From June 2003 until In April 2018, Roy worked across the NHNG as a full-time, dual-status, Federal Technician in various assignments, including Chief Financial Officer, Commander of the Regional Training Institute, and Service Member and Family Services Director. His deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004-2005, serving as a company commander for the corps’ security brigade and an assistant operations officer for Multi-National Division – Southeast, and Operation Enduring Freedom from 2008- 2009, serving as executive officer and operations officer for Regional Police Advisory Command -South. For over a decade upon his return home in 2009, he served as a Congressional Affairs Contact Officer, working closely with US Congressional senior staff members and representing the National Guard and US Army with US Senators and Representatives from NH at local events and meetings and in Washington DC.
