Ron Preble was born and raised in Bristol, NH. He attended Bristol High School, graduating in 1954. He enlisted in the US Army in Manchester, NH in 1954, going to Fort Dix for Basic Training, and then Camp Chaffe, Arkansas for advanced training. His MOS was Supply.

In February 1955, Ron was assigned to the US Army Garrison, Southern Area Munich in the HQ Service Company as part of the German Occupation Force. One memorable assignment was during the Hungarian Revolution where his company helped process and transport refugees (freedom fighters) to the airport en route to the United States. SCP4 Ron Preble served there until finishing his tour in September 1957 and returning home to Bristol, NH.

Ron worked and retired from Fredenberg-NOK and then worked part-time at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery from 2005 to 2018.

Ron continues to be active in Post #10640 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bristol, NH.
