Enlisted in 1969 and served as an enlisted hospital corpsman for the majority of his career. He was commissioned into the Navy Nurse Corps in 1990 and retired as a Lieutenant in 1998. His service included assignments at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Maine, Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, Kenitra in Morocco, Camp Pendleton, Fort Gordon in Georgia, Great Lakes in Illinois, Camp Ripley in Minnesota, Norfolk in Virginia, Walter Reed Hospital, NCS Rota in Spain, AFEES Buffalo in New York, NAS Brunswick in Maine, and NSG Winter Harbor in Maine.
