I am a Vietnam Era Veteran, however I did not serve in a war zone. I always remind people that in the service you only go where they send you.

I enlisted in the Air Force in January 1962, went to Basic Training at Lackland AFB, TX and then went to Tech School at Shepherd AFB, Witchita Falls, TX. My first and only assignment was at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine. I spent 45 months of active duty before discharge in March 1966.

I was assigned to the Accounting section of the Computer Operations Department. I met my wife at Loring AFB as she was the head of the civilian payroll area and I ran all the accounting and financial reports.
