It’s been said that for every US service member that is actually firing on, or dropping bombs on an enemy, there are nine more service members providing behind-the-scenes support so that one combat soldier can keep on firing. Rich Hunt was one of those nine.

Richard Emerson Hunt was born in Lexington, MA on November 12, 1946, spending his childhood there, graduating from Lexington High School in 1964. Unsure what to do after graduation, he worked locally for a while; then entered the Navy in October 1968 at the height of the Vietnam War.

Despite the war, the Navy needed him stateside where he served as an aircraft mechanic. He received an honorable discharge at Pax River, MD as an E-5, Petty Officer Second Class.

Hunt attended UMass at Lowell, MA from 1989 to 1991 studying Facilities Management later securing a job as Facilities Manager for Advanced Magnetics in Cambridge, MA. He moved to Nashua in 1996 marrying Nashua native Sandra Ledoux-Caron on September 5, 1997. The two moved to Venice, FL in 2006.

Richard Hunt passed away on May 20, 2024, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his widow, Sandra Hunt. Unfortunately, all photos of Hunt have been lost.
