Graduated 1979 from USAF Academy, attended UPT at Columbus AFB. Tanker Pilot at Ellsworth AFB, SD, March AFB, CA, Castle AFB, CA, and Pease ANGB, NH. Selected as the Air Force Advisor to NHANG in1992, the only pilot in the Air Force dual-qualified in KC-135E and KC-135R aircraft. Joined NHANG in 1995. In 2001, as Chief of Stan/Eval, selected to be Mission Support Group Commander (MSG/CC) as an additional duty. On 9/11/2001, as senior operations officer on base, coordinated crews and aircraft to stand-up 24 hr Alert ops at Pease. Tanker orbits established and flown over Ground Zero. As MSG/CC, prepared the Base to handle increased Security requirements, while maintaining 24/7/365 operations. In 2009, selected as Commander, 201st Mission Support Squadron, and Vice Commander, Air National Guard Readiness Center. Returned to NHANG in 2011, retiring as Deputy US Property and Fiscal Officer in November 2012. Married and served with my best friend, MajGen Gretchen Dunkelberger (retired), bringing up two wonderful daughters, presently serving on active duty in the Air Force.
