Leigh Allen Nichols, known to many as “Regs,” passed away on April 29, 2023, in a motorcycle accident in Milton, NH. He was a well-respected figure in his community, dedicated to service both in and out of uniform.

Leigh was born in Stamford, Connecticut, but spent most of his life in Union, NH. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Tech Sergeant after 22 years of service, with his last posting at the NH Air National Guard’s 157th Air Refueling Wing at Pease AFB in Portsmouth. During his career, he was particularly proud of his role with the Honor Guard unit from 2002 until his retirement in 2012.

Leigh was known for his commitment to helping others, particularly veterans. He was actively involved with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) 5-6, where he raised funds and provided support for fellow veterans. His road name, “Regs,” reflected his knack for navigating regulations and finding the information needed to assist his peers.

He was also part of the Equine Immersion Program, which uses equine therapy to support veterans and their families. Leigh worked with local American Legion posts, including Claude E. Batchelder American Legion Post #72 in Alton and Rochester American Legion Post #7, to provide assistance to veterans in his community.

Family was a central part of Leigh’s life, whether it was his blood relatives or his extended circle of friends and fellow veterans. His kindness, dedication, and willingness to help others will be remembered and missed by many.
