Josephine Evelyn (Maciejewski) Sad was born in Derry, N.H. She lived an incredible life. Growing up during the Great Depression, she was a huge help to her parents and helped to raise and care for her younger siblings.

She joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and honorably served her country during World War II, receiving the American Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. She spent her time in the Army as a sewing machine operator, but also as a Guard Patrolman.

Josephine married Allen J. Sad in 1949 and loved being a military wife, her husband also serving the country, and they traveled all over the world together.

One of the things that Josephine loved was Country Line Dancing. She was a professional line dancer in Nashua, N.H. She was known for her graceful and precise dance moves. She was a very creative person and worked with ceramics for several years. Baking was one of her specialties, and she loved to make Christmas cookies. When she wasn’t creating, she spent a lot of time shopping at the Burlington Mall.

Josephine was always positive. She never complained and always had something nice to say. She brought a lot of joy to those around her. Her biggest passion was her family.

She is interred with her husband in SECTION 4 ROW G SITE 387
