James Pulsifer was born in 1950. He grew up in and around Plymouth, where he attended Plymouth Regional High School before joining the US Air Force. He was stationed at many different Air Force bases, but the most important one was the one in Minot, ND, where he met the love of his life, Marlene Skjervem, whom he married in August of 1962 and would remain married to Marlene until his passing over 53 years later.

James was a family man first and foremost. He and his wife were stationed in North Dakota at Minot Air Force Base when James was sent to Vietnam. Eventually, after retiring from the Air Force, they returned to NH and settled in Campton, where James would earn his Bachelor’s degree from Plymouth State College. However, James felt called back to service to our country, so he joined the USAF Reserves, where he served for 11 years before transferring to the US Army Reserves for 15 more years before retiring and going on to be a postman in Plymouth for another 20 years.

James was a man who loved his family and serving his country and community, but he was also a man with a love of the great outdoors. During his years in Campton, James could be found tending his farm, fishing or hunting for deer in the NH woods.
