Harold P. Harbour, born in Franklin, NH, served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. After the war, he worked for Arwood Corp. before he and his family ran Harbour Transportation for several years. Harold was deeply involved in the Tilton-Northfield communities, earning the title of Northfield Citizen of the Year in 1994. His extensive contributions included serving as a member and former Chief of the Tilton-Northfield Fire Department, a Tilton-Northfield Fire Commissioner, and holding leadership roles with the NH Fire Chiefs’ Association and the NH Forest Fire Wardens’ Association. He was also a former commissioner of the NH Fire Training and Standards and served on the Board of Directors for Lakes Region Mutual Aid. Additionally, Harold was an active member of Franklin VFW Post #1698, Franklin Lodge of Elks #1280, and Whiteman-Davidson American Legion Post #49, where he was named Legionnaire of the Year in 2002. He was a dedicated member of the Tilton-Northfield United Methodist Church and served on the Providian Bank Board. Harold was known for his enthusiasm in assisting with local fundraisers and enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends. His optimistic demeanor touched many lives. Harold is interred at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Section A2R, Row B, #20.
