Corporal George Jefferson Barbour / United States Army

Corporal George Jefferson Barbour — Barbour entered the Army on February 22, 1943. After receiving his basic training at Miami Beach, Florida, he was assigned to transporting ammunition at the Air Base there.

From Greensboro, North Carolina, he went overseas with the 1428th Ordnance, Supplies and Munitions Aviation Company in July, 1944. He was stationed at Hickam Field, and at various other fields in Hawaii. He remained there until he came back to the United States to be discharged on February 18, 1946. When he entered the service, Barbour was working for the Bourn Furniture Company in Milford. He was born in Brookline, New Hampshire, on June 6, 1923, and is the son of Thomas and Lillian (Worden) Barbour of Milford, now living in Nashua. He attended school in both Brookline and Milford, his family coming to reside in Milford in 1936.
