Marine Private First Class Eric Currier was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, part of the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, headquartered at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was killed in action while conducting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Eric resided in Methuen, Massachusetts, until the eighth grade, at which point he relocated to Londonderry, New Hampshire, with his mother. He spent his summers on Plum Island, where he engaged in hunting and fishing activities with his grandfather. Eric completed his education through the Londonderry High School Adult Education Program, graduating in 2006. He subsequently fulfilled his aspiration of serving in the Marine Corps by enlisting in March 2009.

In January of the following year, he was deployed to Afghanistan, leaving behind his wife, Kaila. During his military service, Eric received several honors, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He expressed a strong belief in the necessity of the mission, often stating the importance of providing support to the Afghan people.

In his leisure time, Eric enjoyed fishing on his grandfather’s boat, swimming, and playing basketball. He was recognized as a friendly and amiable individual, held in high regard by members of his community.
