In Honor of Marine PFC Eric Dennis Currier: A Life of Purpose and Sacrifice

Marine Private First Class Eric Dennis Currier of Londonderry, New Hampshire, lived with a quiet strength and a resolute sense of purpose. Born in March 1988, Eric was just 21 years old when he was killed in action during combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in February 2010.

Eric enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2009, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Within a year, he deployed with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division—an assignment that reflected his commitment to serve and protect. For his service, Eric earned honors including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

A graduate of Londonderry High School’s Adult Education Program, Eric’s journey was shaped by resilience and hard work. He left behind his beloved wife, Kaila, and a family who knew him not only as a Marine, but as a kind-hearted, determined, and deeply loyal young man.

Eric’s roots spanned New England—raised in Methuen, Massachusetts, and spending summers on Plum Island with his grandfather, where they shared a love for fishing, hunting, and the natural world. He was known for his easy smile, his dedication to others, and his belief in helping people—not only at home, but especially those in need during his time overseas.

Today, PFC Eric Currier rests at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Section H20R, Row D, Site 4—a solemn space for a life cut short but filled with meaning.

Eric’s memory endures in the hearts of his family, fellow Marines, and all who are moved by his story of service, sacrifice, and the simple but powerful belief that one person can make a difference.
