David served in the United States Coast Guard on board the WHEC-33 Duane, So. Portland Coast Guard Station in Newcastle, NH. He also served at WYTM-72 USCGC Yankton Harbor Tug Portsmouth Harbor, NH as well as Boone Island Lighthouse Station off the coast of Maine.  Later in life, David became a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA). He was very proud of his military service and of his country.
