David A. Learned, born March 15, 1942, in Concord, NH, dedicated over three decades of his life to serving his country in the United States Coast Guard. After graduating high school in 1960, Dave embarked on a distinguished career that spanned 31 years, culminating in his retirement in 1991 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.

During his time with the Coast Guard, Dave’s assignments took him and his family to various locations, including Florida, Bermuda, Alabama, and Tennessee. While stationed in Florida in 1965, Dave met Marcia Eckman on a blind date in Pompano Beach. That night began a lifelong partnership, filled with adventures and the joy of raising three daughters.

Following his Coast Guard retirement, Dave returned to his beloved New Hampshire, where he continued to serve his community. He worked as a Marine Patrol Officer near Squam Lake before settling in Rumney. He became a dedicated community member there, serving as a Sergeant with the Rumney Police Department and participating in the American Legion.

Dave had a passion for life that extended beyond his service. He took great pride in his collection of motorcycles, BMWs, and his RV, each a testament to his hard work and dedication. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished skiing in New Hampshire’s scenic mountains and deeply loved animals, always caring for those he encountered.
