Benoit Emile Biron “Benny” was born in Magog, Quebec, Canada. He moved to Norton Mills, VT later moved to Manchester, NH. He enlisted in the NH Army National Guard in October 1961. He served on active duty at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with Alpha Battery 1st Battalion 172nd Field Artillery during the Berlin Wall Crisis as a wheel and howitzer mechanic. He later began a 31-year career as a civil service technician with the NH Army National Guard at the OMS #4 Manchester Armory. During this time, he served in leadership positions Motor Sergeant, Battalion Motor Sergeant and HHS Battery.

After 40 years of dedicated military service, Benny retired as Master Sergeant from US Army in 2001.

After his military career, Benny worked for Averell Landscape & Design for 10 years and then continued to stay active working on numerous projects. He was always happiest when keeping busy and helping others. He also enjoyed playing games with his family and friends, cooking, trips to the casino, finding ways to make people laugh and making new friends wherever he went.

Benny was a special person who touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of meeting him. He was an exceptional father, proud grandfather and great grandfather. He was down to earth, open hearted, hardworking, a great listener, patient, and someone who truly understood what matters in life. He was one of a kind, a true legend.
