After spending 2-1/2 years in the Marine Corps Reserve, I elected to go active in March 1957.  After 5 years as an infantry Marine, which included 14 months in Okinawa, I took the Language Aptitude Test and was selected to go to the Naval Intelligence School in Anacostia D.C.  to learn the Vietnamese language.  After 1-1/2 tours in RVN (1964/65/66), and having been promoted to the rank of SSgt, I was commissioned a 2nd Lt (Temporary)  my 3rd tour (1969/70)  was as OIC of a small communications detachment attached to the 1st Marine AirvWing in Da Nang, RVN.  In 1971, with the conflict in Vietnam starting to wind down, temporary officers were no longer needed and I was reverted to my permanent enlisted pay grade which was now MSgt. One year later, I applied for and was recommissioned as a 2nd Lt (Limited Duty Officer-LDO).  In March 1957 I retired from the Marine Corps and was subsequently redesignated Captain (USMC RET).  I am not a native of Nashua, having been raised in Oregon but my wife was a native of Lowell, MA and we moved here in 1979 to be near her family.  Semper Fidelis.
